Terms and Conditions for Platform Collectables
Welcome to Platform Collectables, where we bring your model trains back to life with a touch of care and a dash of enthusiasm! By using our website and services, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Let's keep things clear and friendly.
1. Our Services
We're passionate about all things model railways, and we're here to help with:
Repairs – From minor tweaks to major overhauls, we handle it all for OO Gauge and N Gauge locos.
Sales – A fantastic range of new and pre-owned model trains, ready for your layout.
DCC Fitting – Digital Command Control installations, with prices depending on the model and decoder.
Loco Servicing – A standard clean and oil service including a 30-minute run test, from just £24.
2. Pricing
Repairs – Starting from £24 plus parts. We'll confirm pricing once we’ve seen the loco.
DCC Fitting – Quoted based on the model and decoder chosen.
Servicing – £24 covers a full clean, oil, and run test.
Postage – £5 for Royal Mail Tracked 48 Signed (UK only).
3. Repair Terms
Warranty – All repairs come with a 3-month guarantee. If the same issue comes back, we’ll fix it free of charge.
No Fix, No Fee – If we can’t fix it, we’ll return it and only charge for postage.
Turnaround Time – Usually 1–2 weeks, depending on parts availability. We’ll keep you updated.
Older Models – If your loco is over 30 years old, parts might be scarce. Please check with us before sending.
Tampering – If the loco has been tampered with after repair, standard charges will apply.
DCC Decoders – If a decoder fails, we’ll talk through replacement options with you.
4. Sending Your Locos to Us
All models are sent at your own risk and expense.
We take great care with your items, but in the rare event of damage or loss, our liability is limited to the manufacturer’s list price.
We’re not responsible for any accessory parts fitted to the loco.
5. Sales Terms
Returns (Pre-Owned Items) – 14-day hassle-free returns on second-hand items bought from our website or eBay. Buyer covers return postage.
Final Sales – All other items are final sale unless otherwise noted.
Fault Reporting – Any issues with purchases must be reported within 30 days of receiving the item.
6. Postage and Handling
UK – £5 via Royal Mail Tracked 48 Signed.
International – Varies by location. Please contact us for a quote.
7. Payment Terms and Late Payments
Payment Due – Payment is due upon receipt of invoice unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Late Payments – If payment isn’t received within a reasonable timeframe, we reserve the right to apply a reasonable late fee or interest charge, as outlined here and visible before purchase.
