Welcome to Platform Collectables

Hi, I’m Peter, the person behind Platform Collectables. My love for model railways goes back to childhood, spending time with my grandad and his collection. We often visited places like Pecorama and Buffers Model Railway shop, picking up ideas and bits for layouts. Those early days sparked a lifelong interest in the hobby.

After inheriting my grandad’s collection, I started restoring it and quickly realised how many people struggle to keep their models running, whether it’s a loco needing a service, a split gear, or something more involved like a DCC conversion. That’s really how Platform Collectables took shape—helping others with repairs and servicing alongside restoring my own collection.

Today, I offer repairs, servicing, DCC fitting, and 3D printing for parts and accessories. I also buy and sell both new and second-hand models, so there’s always something interesting coming through the workshop. Customers from across the UK send their models in for repair, and I’m always happy to help keep them running.

I share updates through blogs and videos, including progress on my grandad’s layout and the various jobs I get in the workshop. It’s all about keeping these models running and helping others enjoy the hobby.
