Workshop Update: Services, Repairs & A Class 70 Ready for the Show!
It’s been a solid week here in the workshop with plenty of progress made. We completed four standard services and wrapped up two repair jobs, thanks to parts finally arriving. One highlight was getting a Class 70 locomotive back up and running just in time for the customer’s upcoming show — always satisfying to help a model make it to the big day!
We also fitted the replacement drive shaft to the train that came in missing one. However, when we put it through its run test, we spotted a sneaky split gear that had gone undetected until now. This is exactly why we always carry out a full 30-minute test run — 15 minutes forwards, 15 minutes in reverse — before any loco leaves our workshop. Thorough testing makes sure every train is truly ready for the tracks, and we even send a final test video to the customer for peace of mind before returning their model.
Towards the back end of the week, we did face some connection issues as we lost internet for a day. That slowed us down on the admin side, but everything’s back up and running now, and we’re working hard to catch up with customer messages as quickly as possible.
Thanks again to everyone for your continued support and patience! If you’ve got a model in need of a service, repair, or even a DCC conversion, feel free to get in touch — we’re always happy to help keep your locos running smoothly.
