Split Gears, Servicing & A Shunting Yard Setback

Another busy week in the workshop with six trains in for servicing. Three were routine maintenance jobs, but the other three came in with multiple split gears—one of the most common but frustrating faults in older models. With the right parts and a little patience, they'll be running smoothly again soon!

Shunting Yard Setback

On my own layout, things didn't go quite so smoothly. No power was reaching the shunting yard, and after some investigating, I found the issue—a completely corroded switch and no current making it through the points. That meant taking up the whole section to troubleshoot properly, so there’s some track work ahead!

March the Month – Final Push!

I’m also nearing the end of March the Month, the step challenge raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK. It’s been a great way to keep active, and every step taken has been for a good cause. If you’d like to support the fundraiser, there’s still time to donate!

That’s all for this week—plenty of repairs in progress, some challenges on the layout, and a final push for charity. If your locos need servicing, repairs, or DCC fitting, get in touch!
