Eight In for Servicing and Two for DCC – Keeping the Workshop Buzzing

We’ve had another busy week here at Platform Collectables – eight locos in for servicing and two more booked in for DCC conversions. It’s great to see so many regulars and new faces sending their models in. It really does feel like the workbench is rarely empty now!

Most of this week’s jobs were standard services—just a good clean, check over, proper lubrication, and test running. We always do a 30-minute test run (15 minutes each way) and send a video over so the customer can see their loco running smoothly before it goes back. A few of the models needed a little extra work, but nothing too dramatic—just the kind of thing that gets sorted as part of a proper service.

The two DCC jobs are on hold while we wait for parts to come in, but the conversions are already prepped and ready for when the chips arrive.

It’s always reassuring for customers when we can tell them their loco isn’t actually broken—just overdue a bit of TLC. A service often goes a long way, and in many cases avoids needing any major repairs or pricey parts (motors aside—those still aren’t cheap!).

Thanks again to everyone keeping the workshop nice and busy. It's brilliant to see so much coming in and out each week!
