Catching Up in the Workshop and Some Exciting New Additions

It’s been a little while since my last update, so I’ll hold my hands up to that one! Things have been very busy here at Platform Collectables, and I’ve been playing a bit of catchup recently. The workshop has been full and I’ve had some really interesting jobs come through over the past few weeks.

One of the biggest bits of news is that I’ve now added resin printers to the workshop. This means I can start producing bespoke parts when replacements simply aren’t available. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while and should help keep more older or rarer models running for years to come.

As for what’s been on the bench lately, there’s been plenty of variety. A Graham Farish Class 108 DMU came in for a service and a little weight adjustment to get it running that bit smoother. Over on the OO gauge side, a Hornby Duke of Gloucester needed a new motor fitting and a full service, while a Hornby BR Class 3F No. 47556 had a standard service to keep it in top condition.

I’ve also had a couple of Lima N gauge locos in that weren’t running when they arrived but were both successfully repaired and are now back in action. It’s always satisfying when a “non-runner” leaves the workshop running just as it should.

There was also a nice kit-built GWR 2-6-0 Mogul that came in as another non-runner and is now repaired and ready for more running time. On the more vintage side, a Märklin 3000 came in for a full service after spending years in storage. It’s always special to see older models like that running smoothly again after such a long rest.

Finally, a Hornby Castle 5006 came in for a standard service and test run to round off the week nicely.

So, plenty of good progress made and lots more still to do. Thanks to everyone who’s been patient while I’ve been catching up, and keep an eye out for more updates soon.

I’ll try not to let so long pass before the next one this time!
