Catching Up In The Workshop And A Finished Layout To Show Off

It has been a little while since my last blog post, so time to get things back on track. I have been playing catchup in the workshop over the past few weeks with a steady flow of locos arriving for servicing and repairs. Some of them have been a bit more stubborn than others, but the regular servicing jobs have kept things moving and helped me stay sane. I also picked up a couple of resin printers which means I can now make bespoke parts when spares are no longer available. That should be a big help for the older locos that would otherwise be stuck waiting for replacements.

There has been a good mix of work recently. Both the blue and red Kato Glacier Express sets came through the workshop for servicing which was a nice change of pace and great fun to work on. A Class 08 arrived needing a DCC pickup replacement and is now running properly again. The Santa Fe also came in for DCC work and is behaving itself after a good tidy up. Alongside these were various Graham Farish locos that needed their usual servicing and repairs, keeping the bench busy throughout the week.

One of the best parts of the past few weeks was catching up with Julian. He has been working on the Sandwich with Sidings layout for Platform Collectables and I am really pleased to say it is now fully operational. It looks brilliant as a shelf layout with its siding lights and the exact atmosphere we were hoping for. Julian is going to paint a few extra figures for it including a Royal Mail postie in honour of my grandma, along with a policeman to keep Thor the signal box operator in line when he is off the clock. It was great catching up again and amazing to see the layout finished after its long history. If you want to see where it all began back in 2012, here is the link:

We also have a small N gauge collection that has come in which still needs to be checked over properly. With a bit of luck there might be a hidden gem or two once everything has been tested.

Thanks for reading and for continuing to support what I do. I will try not to leave it so long before the next update. If you have a loco needing some attention, feel free to get in touch and I will do my best to help.
