Busy Week in the Workshop – From Dapol to Kato
It’s been another full week here at Platform Collectables with a good mix of N gauge locos passing through the workshop for servicing and repairs. It’s always nice to see so much variety on the bench and this week definitely didn’t disappoint.
First up was a Dapol Super Voyager which came in for a standard service and test run. These sets are always fun to work on and it’s satisfying seeing them glide smoothly again once everything is cleaned and adjusted.
Next on the list was a Union Mills loco which needed a DCC decoder reset and a general service. Union Mills locos are built to last and this one just needed a bit of attention to get it running perfectly again.
The Dapol Grange Class was another highlight, a sound-fitted model that came in for a wiring tidy-up and service. It’s always nice to hear these sound locos come back to life once they’ve been tuned up and running properly.
Then there was a Kato 7008-K DD51, a bit of an unusual one that had been dropped and needed some repair work as well as a full service. Thankfully, with a bit of patience and a few small adjustments, it’s now back in good running order.
Finally, a Dapol Silver King came in for a valve gear repair and service. This one needed a careful touch to get everything aligned properly again, but it’s now back on the rails and ready for plenty more running time.
All in all, a solid week in the workshop with plenty of interesting jobs. It’s always rewarding seeing these locos running smoothly again, especially when they’ve arrived in less than perfect condition. As always, thank you to everyone who’s sent their models in - it keeps things ticking along nicely here.
